Individual Counseling

While individual therapy can’t magically resolve all your problems or disappear systems of oppression, it can be a life-changing support in tough times and an opportunity to heal, ground, and grow.
Aren’t sure of who you are or what you believe anymore
Feel guilty, afraid, ashamed, or numb and often don’t know why
Are tired of continually being judged and held to impossible expectations —including by yourself
Struggle with saying no and knowing what you want
So, if you:
Wonder why you just can’t seem to fit in or keep up
Can’t seem to relax or enjoy the relationships and activities you cherish
Are fed up with being shoehorned into made-up boxes
Freeze up when facing decisions
Ache to stop holding back parts of who you are
… know that you are not alone.
From my own international upbringing, multicultural identity, and lived experiences of realizing my queerness and neurodivergence as an adult, I understand how lonely, scary, frustrating, and exhausting it can be to feel like you don’t fully belong no matter where you are or what you do.
Unfortunately, including in spaces and with people that are supposed to be the safest.
Because colonialism, white supremacy, and patriarchy have been baked into therapy, psychology, and the mental health care system from the very start, it’s all too common for folks who aren’t thin, cis-het, allo, able, moneyed, and white to have negative experiences — from the downright traumatizing and macro-/microaggression-filled, to the lackluster, uneasy, and ineffective — when seeking out counseling.
It’s not exactly healing or encouraging to deal with things like:
TERFs and ace-erasure in queer spaces
being shamed in spiritual communities
invalidation of your feelings and identities by family members
and/or colonialism and white supremacy shaping supposedly therapeutic settings
Instead of pathologizing understandable behavior, shaming with sermons, or asking you to educate me, I aim to co-create a judgement-free space with you.
I invite you into curiosity about yourself — your feelings, beliefs, relationships — within a compassionate, collaborative, and empowering relationship.
I understand how stifling and scary it can be trying to even just exist in a society and cultures so bound up in binaries.
I welcome each and every part of you to:
Challenge repressive beliefs and harmful narratives
Process personal traumas and unpack the legacies of abuse and oppression
Experience relief from persistent guilt, looming dread, or a lingering sense of inadequacy
Build healthier communication and relationships with yourself and others
Become more present and at peace in your own life
Design a life according to your own beliefs and values
Develop a grounding sense of self and discover clarity in decision-making
Create sustainable self-care and/or spiritual practices
Own your strengths and discover confidence in your passions and identity
