FAQs

Here are some of the questions folks tend to have about therapy and what it’s like to work with me. If you don’t see your question answered here, contact me and I’ll get in touch with an answer in a couple business days.

  • My rate for a regular 50-minute session is $215. Longer 80-minute sessions are also available for a fee of $345.

  • I am not an in-network provider with any health insurance companies. If you have out-of-network benefits and hope to use them, I am happy to provide a superbill (an itemized healthcare receipt) upon request.

  • If you cancel within 24 hours of our scheduled appointment, you will be charged the full fee.

  • It’s an estimate of a non-emergency medical bill you can ask a health care provider (like me) for if you don’t have insurance, are paying out of pocket, and/or are requesting insurance reimbursement (i.e. submitting superbills). It’s part of the 2022 No Surprises Act that is supposed to prevent people from getting a giant surprise medical bill. More information is available here in the full, official notice.

  • No, I am fully virtual and provide online therapy for folks within California.

If needed, you can enter my virtual waiting room of the alternate HIPAA-secure telemedicine platform at doxy.me/erincarnahan.

  • Message me or schedule a free, 15-ishh minute phone (or video) consultation directly via my contact page.

A consult call is a no-commitment, and low-stakes way of checking out if we vibe. I usually ask what you’re looking for from therapy, how your previous experiences in therapy have been (if applicable), and what your schedule looks like. You’ll have the opportunity to get some more information or clarity and to ask any questions you might have. At the end of our chat, you could schedule your first appointment with me right then, or you can think it over and let me know later if you’d like to work together.
